Week 57: Prince Ali!

Dear Family,

Haha okay...I am the worst. I spent so much time replying to emails today that I have no time to write a novel today..so sorry. But just know that the Lord is on our side. he has been blessing us NONSTOP. We got a call from a member on Thursday and she invited over to her house to teach one of her friends. We did and we ended up setting a baptismal date with him. His name is Ali and he is from Iran. (Hence the subject of this email). Everything is going great!

We are still working with Iris and her smoking but we are still having faith and we have prepared everything for her baptism. SHE IS GETTING BAPTIZED. Please pray for her!

Everything is going great! I am singing "Come unto Christ" with Elder Conatti at zone conference this week and I am so excited. I was also at a members house and I started playing a little piano...she was surprized that I had never taken lessons and then went off on how I need to develop my talents. Let's just say I am going to take lessons when I get home.

I can't think of anything else too important. I am so sorry. You guys probably hate me. haha But I LOVE YOU and the LORD LOVES YOU!!!!!!

I pray for you and your safety!

LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!

Week 56: Larping....haha

HEY FAMILY!!! Okay I feel sooo bad but I don't have any time this week to write much but this week was seriously AMAZING.

IRIS!! She is doing sooo great. She came to church and she feels like she is part of a big family. She still needs to stop smoking but she is trying her best. We have everything planned for the baptism on the 30th so it's really up to her if it goes through. And she knows that we have everything planned. (: I am so excited for her. Seeing the happiness in her eyes is just amazing. We had a super member present with her this week and it went really well. She is just amazing us every day. I love her to death. haha I seriously learn more from her every day.

Members from Germany...my cousing Damon served in their ward!

We did some good finding this week and found a couple of potentials so we are super excited to look them up this week! I will let you know how that goes.

Ludgarda...she didn't come to church..but it's just getting to the point where we don't know what to do. So we'll see. haha

Mango Lasi!
We were dropping off curtains to someone and we were riding our bikes and so it looked like we were jousting and so we had a little fun for a second. Hence the title "Larping".  I'll send a pic of Zr Brophy haha. She's great. You've got to find the fun in little things! (:

Jousting with a curtain rod!

We are just loving life. I love you guys sooo much! I miss you and love hearing from you! Thanks for everything that you do! I wrote you a letter so I hope to be sending it off today or tomorrow. You guys are awesome.

LOVE YOU TONS!

Week 55: OVERLOAD. Maar vrees niet, alles komt goed jongens.

I am sooo happy to see thing homecoming pictures of Kristy! Even though they make me a bit homesick...don't worry my time will come. I hope you guys enjoy Seattle and that you take advantage of having one of your awesome daughters home:) haha I was also EXTREMELY happy to hear that Lauren started her mission papers!!! WOOHOOO!!! Please keep me updated! I am SO EXCITED for her.

Well this week was AMAZING. And really overwhelming. Just lots came at once but we really figured things out. haha (: It has been good. Where do I begin!? haha I am so grateful to have Zr Brophy here! This city is seriously amazing and I am just loving every second here. I don't know what I would do if I had a different companion though. haha I think of all the cities, this has been one that has changed me in a different way than the others have. There have definitely been hard times here but there is just something great thing about this place. I feel home.

So..Let me update you guys on Iris! Oh boy. I am so excited. haha we had 2 WONDERFUL lessons with her this week! And of course our favorite people came with us, Zr Wilma Vermeer and Zr Wilkens. haha They are seriously the best joint teaches EVER. Iris has made SO much progress this week. We taught her about fasting on tuesday and how we can use it to gain strength. Zr Wilkens shared some awesome stories that really touched Iris. You could just see the change in Iris as we talked with her. She is so excited to quit smoking even though she knows it is going to be hard. We then taught her about following the prophet and the 10 commandments and the lesson went SO well. The Spirit was AMAZINGLY strong and everything was just perfect. 1 week ago zr Brophy and I had picked a talk to have her read and it turned out being the PERFECT talk for her. Coincidence? I think not! The Spirit totally helped us with that. She promised to come to the church and that we are going to find a day to fast together and help her to stop smoking! AND GUESS WHAT?! She was on date for the 16th but because of vacation and also her needing to stop smoking, we were able to switch her date to the 30th! We are SO excited and so is she! She came to church with her son. Brennen and they LOVED IT. She was talking to her son while I was by them and she said "how did you like class?" He said "it was super cool" and THEN she said "good because we are going to come here more oft

My 5 Euro Dress
en!" HOW AWESOME. She was scared that her ex was not going to like the fact that Brennen was going to church but she called him and and he was totally fine with it, in fact he found it awesome! What a blessing. She also told zr Brophy that she is totally ready to get baptized, she just needs to stop smoking! I am just so happy and grateful for Iris and that she is finding happiness! You can just see it in her face. SO GREAT. Pray for her to find the strength to stop smoking(: Thanks!

The Plan of Salvation
LuDgarda (I guess i have been spelling her name wrong..my bad) and Xionely are doing good. We saw tons of progress from her this week and we were super excited to see her take some awesome steps and finally make it to church...but again, she told us she'd be there and then she didn't show up. We are going to have a good loving talk with her tomorrow and see how things go. Her and Xionely are now also on date for the 30th. We will see how it goes. Please pray for them!

Ha crazy story. Well not too crazy but it was definitely one of those small things that happen in your life and it just helps you gain a stronger testimony. (: haha So Saturday night we got a call asking us to give a talk/do something to take up time during sacrament meeting and so we decided to give our testimonies. I had been thinking that night what I wanted our investigators to know and also the members...but I fell asleep before finding an official topic. I woke up in the middle of the night throwing up in my mouth. Like gross. But Hard core. I choked it down because I didn't want to throw up on myself and I drank some water. I was still feeling pretty sick and it was only 2 am. DANG. I needed sleep because Sunday was going to be crazy so I decided to say a prayer. After finishing my prayer, I laid back down and after a few minutes I felt better and fell back asleep. What a simple thing. Heavenly Father answers prayers people! He knew that I couldn't be sick and he knew the desires of my heart! And because of that He blessed me to feel better and He gave me the strength to serve others. It may sound dumb but It really helped me realized that the Lord is there. And then I was able to share that experience with the ward and Iris and other investigators. What a blessing. So here is a quote for you! and this is thanks to Tasi and the awesome card things she gave me in the MTC. "Why wish upon a star when you can pray to the one who created it."

Is it Raining or Sunny?
Prayers are answered! I have been getting super lazy with my prayers lately but I know that the Lord helps us ONLY is we ask and are willing to act. I love this gospel. I love my mission! I am so grateful for everything that I have learned out here. I am grateful I still have 4 months to learn more and to serve more and to become the person the Lord needs me to be!

We were sitting on the Metro on our way home from a long day and there was this guy playing his guitar, singing "Everything is going to be alright" and it was just so cool and something we both needed. Heavenly Father comforts us when we need comfort. (:

I love you guys. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU GUYS. SO MUCH. Thank you for everything. I am sorry I was the worst daughter before. I am so excited to help out when I get home!!!! (: I love you!

Week 54: Wij blijven allebei!!!

This just in. Best news ever. ZUSTER BROPHY AND I ARE STAYING TOGETHER ONE MORE TRANSFER IN CAPELLE!!! WOOOHOOO. Best thing I have ever heard. I am SO grateful for this opportunity. Ah this next transfer is going to be great.

Well this week was one of those weeks that just FLEW by and was great but nothing too exciting happened. We did TONS of service this week for members, which is way fun. We help a sister clean a house before she got surgery and then we helped another sister clean out her basement (I will send you a picture). It was way fun. And we learned lots about food storage. haha

Things with Iris, Lutgarda and Xionely are about the same. We thought for sure that all of them would make it to church this sunday...but none of them made it. LAME. But what can you do, everyone has their own agency. So ya.

OKAY, I HAVE 2 WONDERFUL MIRACLES.

1. The first transfer here in Capelle one of the less active members had her friend over from Brazil and we were about to talk with her and have a great time and she even came to church. She then left after 2 weeks. Thought nothing of her. Then last week one of the Portuguese elders got an email from a sister missionary in Brazil saying that that lady and her son had been coming to church and that her son is getting baptized! He got baptized last week. SO cool huh? Small and simple things can make a HUGE difference.

2. Today I got an email for one of my favorite people in Almere, Zuster Walle. When we were there we had asked her to think of someone she could share the gospel with and she told us a name and said that she would invite her over and then have us come over. It never worked out. In fact zr Walle was doubting that she was the answer to her prayer. BUT she got a message from that lady last week saything that the lady was going to pick zr Walle up for church and they were going to go together. She ended up LOVING church and is so excited to learn more. Only the Lord knows the WHEN and the HOW. Yet again, through small and simple things are great things come to past.

Zr Brophy got bit by a mosquito on the eyelid...haha super funny. I'll send a picture haha

In the end everything was great this week. I am just enjoying myself. This is the work of the Lord. AND HE NEEDS OUR HELP! So lets help Him out. I am so excited for Kristy to start this new phase in her life. She is going to have a blast (but don't have too much fun without me) haha and I am excited to see pictures and everything. Please be safe. I love you guys more than anything.

The church is true.

Love you and miss you,
